Kite Aerial Photos: Rio Del Mar

A sleepy beach town about 10 miles southeast of Santa Cruz, Rio Del Mar appears to me much like a summer resort of the 1950's. It's astonishing that there are no tourist shops in this village. Nearby to the north is the locally famous "cement boat" which foundered on the shallow beach sometime in the 1920's. It is now a popular fishing spot and curiosity; unfortunately none of my pictures show it.
From Rio Del Mar you can walk north to the much more popular Seacliff State Beach and may be able to walk south for 10 or more miles, eventually passing Pajaro Dunes.
