Piedras Blancas is located south of Big Sur, and just a few miles north of San Simeon (Hearst Castle). I need to go back and get some real photos! This is a lovely and very remote stretch of the central California coast, however it is only a stunning 2 hour drive from Monterey and perhaps 2 hours from Santa Barbara. There is a lighthouse near here and in recent years this area has become a major wintering and breeding grounds for elephant seals. A short distance to the south is the town of Cambria and another 20 miles beyond is Morro Bay.
